    Insurance & Breakdown Cover

    • Insurance: Yes, UK and Europe insurance is included.

    • Breakdown cover: UK and Europe included.

  • The Housebox is built for a family of four:

    • King Size bed : Easily fits 2 adults. The wall bed is a spacious 150cmx175cm,

    • Over-cab bed : This bed is comfortable for two children or one adult. The bed over the cab is 125cmx210cm with headroom starting at 60cm on the open side and sloping to 10cm at the front wall. It is accessed by a ladder and although there is some netting to cover the drop, we don’t recommend v. small children or babies sleep up here.

    • Driver’s seat and a bench seat in the front cab, with one three-point seatbelt and one lap belt. A further seat in the back, sideways facing, with three-point seatbelt and porthole access to the cab.

    • There are no Isofix fittings and children are not permitted to travel in sideways facing seats in the rear of vehicles. So, at the moment, only one front seat is suitable for a child car seat (using seatbelt) and one for a booster seat/ older child.

    • There is a dining area at the back with bench seats which comfortably seats five to six people with access through the stable door onto the elevated, Astroturf veranda.

    • The kitchen provides everything you need to cook all meals and store food - albeit in a slightly smaller form than at home!

    • The Housebox has a water pump, a 200l water tank, a sink, a hot, indoor shower and a porta-potti. But it is not plumbed into the mains water and sewage.

    • Its leisure batteries usually hold enough power from the solar or driving to run the fridge, lights, hot water, and to charge low voltage items like laptops, but not power hungry items like hairdryers etc.

    • The Housebox has plenty of windows for cooling. It is well insulated and also has Propex blown air heating (or outdoor air circulation), and a wood burner.

    You are provided with:

    • All the kitchen equipment, crockery and cutlery you would expect in a normal house, and some essentials (tea, coffee, binbag, washing up liquid etc) to get you started.

    • A full tank of water, full LPG tank and full fuel tank. The toilet will be prepped with fresh flush water and an empty waste tank for you if requested. (Can be removed if not needed/ if you would prefer to have more space).

    • Bedding and towels for up to four guests, either two single duvets or one double for the small bed (just let us know).

    • Four camping chairs if requested.

  • Pets are allowed but just like the adults and humans on board, they shouldn’t leave any lasting evidence. We would suggest that those prone to scratching or biting furniture not be brought along - and this goes for the pets too. ;-)

  • Although we have all the mod cons here, nothing in The Housebox is more advanced than in a standard home.

Upon booking, you will be given access to our How To page, which provides clear instructions for all technical elements.

  • Driving:

    • Driving licence/s for all drivers.

    • Driving licence information / verification provided by the DVLA. This is very easy to obtain, at gov.uk/view-driving-licence. You will need your driving licence number, National Insurance number and postcode to obtain this. Please print out a copy and bring with you on collection day.

    • If we are delivering, then the above is not necessary.

    Living:

    • Food / drink

    • Personal items

    • Shower and wash stuff

    • Shopping sundries (oil, bin bags etc.)

    • Anything else you like to have with you when you are camping!

  • We do not expect you to do a deep clean! However, we do expect:

    • All rubbish to be removed from the vehicle (please try and recycle what you can).

    • Toilet waste tank to be emptied and rinsed with blue liquid (under the sink).

    • the Housebox to be returned with a full tank of fuel. Don’t worry about LPG, and water we will handle that.

    • Everything to be treated with respect - The Housebox (Brenda!) is a cherished member of our family.

    • To be told of any breakages or stains - we understand that accidents happen but it’s never nice to be surprised - especially if a crucial item has been broken that the next hirers will require. If possible, please tell us of anything like this when it happens, not just when you return The Housebox. Then, if we need to organise a replacement, we can do this whilst you continue to enjoy your time.
